Arvigo® Therapy

Restore the Body to It's Natural Balance

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage which is an external, non-invasive manipulation of the abdomen, lower back, and sacrum. These healing techniques restore the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and energy to reproductive and digestive organs by gently repositioning abdominal and pelvic organs that may have shifted from trauma, pregnancy, injury, high impact exercise, abdominal or pelvic surgery, time and gravity, weak pelvic floor muscles, chronic muscle spasm, and emotional armoring, thereby

alleviating reproductive and digestive complaints, and preventing the progression of symptoms to chronic dis-ease.

This unique modality may:

  • Correct displaced or prolapsed uterus and/or bladder,

  • Reduce painful menstruation or ovulation,

  • Help regulate menstrual cycles and ovulation,

  • Reduce miscarriages and/or difficult pregnancies,

  • Relieve and correct symptoms of endometriosis, PCOS, fibroids, cysts, pelvic congestion and pain,

  • Enhance pregnancy,

  • Improve fertility and menopausal symptoms,

  • Relieve irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), Crohn's Disease, chronic constipation, indigestion/heartburn, gastritis,

  • Improve connection between mind, body and emotional awareness.

What to Expect During a Session

At your Initial Session, there will be a comprehensive review of your past and current healthcare needs focusing on reproductive and digestive health. Instructions for the Self-Care technique to use at home will be given as well as recommendations of complementary supportive modalities, such as Castor Oil packs and Herbal PeriSteam Hydrotherapy, nutritional support, lifestyle education, and the use of a Faja (a traditional lower abdomen support wrap). The intention of each session is to promote

vital flow to support your body's inherent healing capacity. At all sessions, I will administer upper and lower abdominal massageto help align reproductive and digestive organs to optimal position and evaluate and treat pelvic alignment to improve

circulation to these systems. Draping will be used to protect your privacy while also allowing you to remain covered and warm during your session.

I want you to have the best experience possible, therefore your preferences for pressure and conversation will be honored. We will tune into your body's needs regarding the optimal amount of pressure. Some days it will be a light pressure; at other times a deeper pressure will feel best. It is important to communicate with me before, during and/or after your session if the pressure is too deep or too light, if you are cold or too warm, don't like the music, or are ticklish, etc. I respect your right to peace and tranquility by talking only as much as you want to without creating new branches of conversation that might disrupt your relaxation, unless it pertains to information needed to perform the massage. I will encourage you, however, to hold conversation until after the abdominal portion of the session, as talking creates tension in the belly and restricts my access to deeper layers of tissue and your access to feelings. That being said, I will take my cues from you!

What to Expect After a Session

Proper positioning and improved flow enhance your body's natural healing abilities and bring balance to the upper and lower abdomen. Often this does not happen without some kind of initial, but temporary setback. Responses to this treatment may range from mild cramping to full on healing crisis or a general serene and relaxed feeling. The belly may feel tender or bruised. The first menses there may be more cramping, more bleeding, passing of clots and debris after sessions and Self-Care has begun.
